It is just such unforgiving countryside, even in winter. I cleared out a nest of red-back spiders recently next to the pool but while they will give you a nasty bite they aren't usually lethal. So as far as dealing with deadly wildlife goes I don't think we are better equipped than anyone else but we took heed of the warnings about crocodiles when we were in the Kimberley and have lived to tell the tale - fortunately.
